Kappa Upsilon Sigma chapter was the culmination of the inner workings of brothers from New Jersey Alumni chapters. On September 25, 1995, the brothers of Epsilon Sigma Chapter (Trenton area alumni chapter) invited the brothers of Zeta Rho Sigma Chapter (Southern New Jersey alumni chapter) to their monthly chapter meeting at the Martin House Learning Center in Trenton, New Jersey. At this meeting, the brothers of Zeta Rho Sigma proposed a possible merger of the two chapters in an effort to strengthen the presence and increase the productivity of Sigma in our community. On January 22, 1996 after several meetings, the bodies of both chapters agreed to the consolidation and applied for a new chapter charter with a record breaking thirty-three brothers. We were officially granted a chapter by the fraternity on March 18, 1996and Kappa Upsilon Sigma Chapter was born. Our charter member are listed below

The Omega service of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity,Inc. is the ceremony in which all deceased Sigma brothers are transferred into Omega chapter. Omega chapter is the chapter reserved for deceased brothers, and this is consistent with the view that “once a Sigma always a Sigma.”

For more than 80 years, Charles I. Brown disappeared from all activities in Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., the organization that he had helped organize. During a Phi Beta Sigma membership national gathering, a search team revealed what happened to Brown. This tribute marks the fraternity’s official Founder Brown’s Burial Ceremony. Charles Ignatius Brown, as history taught, disappeared from all aspects of society around 1924. Hon. Bro. Charles I Brown Tribute
