President's Message
My name is Bro. Martin Royal, and I have the honor of serving as President of the Kappa Upsilon Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
Our great Fraternity was founded on January 9, 1914, on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C., by three visionary young men who sought to create an organization committed not only to serving the campus community, but also the needs of the surrounding neighborhood and communities across the nation. Since that time, we have grown to more than 225,000 members with chapters throughout the United States, Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean. Sigma Men continue to promote our high ideals of Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Service, fulfilling our motto: “Culture for Service and Service for Humanity.”
The Kappa Upsilon Sigma Chapter was chartered in Willingboro, New Jersey in 1996, and since then has diligently served the residents of Burlington County and Atlantic County. We do so by actively implementing our Fraternity’s four programmatic thrusts: Education, Bigger and Better Business, Social Action, and the Sigma Beta Club, our youth mentoring program for young men ages 8 to 18.
For over a century, the men of Sigma have made their mark on history—serving as Presidents of nations such as Nigeria, Ghana, and Liberia, as well as President of the United States of America. From the inception of the Civil Rights Movement to the present day, a Sigma Man has always been there, helping to lead the way and creating what our late brother, the Honorable Congressman John Lewis, proudly called “Good Trouble.” You will find Sigma men in virtually every profession you can imagine. We pride ourselves on being men of Honor and Distinction from all walks of life who joyfully share our light with humanity.
As Matthew 7:16 reminds us, “Ye shall know them by their fruits.” Wherever you see the Men of the Blue and White, you can rest assured that something bountiful is growing.
